I try to come up with investment ideas for my portfolio using several different ways. I have discussed them before in this old blog article.
I decided to run a screen on the Dividend Champions List as of end of June, in order to identify consistent dividend growers for further research.
I basically looked for the following characteristics:
Company being a Dividend Champion - which are companies that have increased dividends for at least 25 years in a row
Annual Dividend Growth above 5%/year over the past 1/3/5/10 years
Most recent dividend increase above 5%
Dividend Yield above 2%
Company has increased earnings per share over the past decade
I avoided financials
I came up with a list of these 13 companies for further research. Note, they are not automatic buys. I also may already have exposure to them - please refer to the last column titled “DGI Portfolio” - it outlines my allocation to each company as of June 30.
